Aastra Telecom Sdn Bhd was recently named the recipient for 2011 Frost & Sullivan Excellence Award for Enterprise Telephony of The Year. Aastra was chosen as the winner by an independent panel of judges for exemplary growth and performance in Malaysia’s telephony market in 2010. The award is also to recognize the company’s effort in developing and improve the industry as a whole, other than to acknowledge Aastra’s success in the enterprise telephony segment. Aastra was picked as the winner by the judges based on the following criteria:
Why Aastra is Malaysia’s No.1? Aastra’s presence in Malaysia came after acquiring Ericsson’s Enterprise Communication Business Unit in 2008. Aastra conducts its operation in Malaysia through experienced business partners. With Suria being its main local partner, Aastra enjoys a dominant position in universities in Malaysia with over 90% of universities using its telephony solutions. Added to this, headquarters of banks and financial institution in general have telephony solution sold and maintained by Suria. This gives Aastra a substantial client base to grow especially in the form of upgrades and expansions of existing and new sites. Aastra had a great year in 2010, achieving growth of 58.7% as compared to 2009. For Aastra, it was a business decision that went absolutely right for them, that included migrating existing client base to newer telephony system, setting up direct sales touch team and establishing the separate go-to-market to sale IP/ SIP Phones in the country. Local partner- Suria was able to secure a 9,000 port extension deal with a university that was running the old version of Ericsson telephony system. |
